Talliston House and Gardens

Talliston House and Gardens is the inspiration of John Trevillian who at Midday on 6th October 1990 stepped into a 3 bedroom semi detached ex-council house in Great Dunmow..... and started a personal journey that grew into a 25 year project. He took a modest semi in a small English market town and transformed it into a wonderland of inspirational locations, each set in a different time and place.  As their website says: " Hard to imagine, impossible to forget"  Talliston was completed on 6th October 2015 and is now run as a trust by the Friends of Talliston. This is at its heart still a private home but each room has a different story.  You can step from Moorish bedchamber to a victorian tower room to a 1920's study to a New Orleans kitchen. Each woven with its own story.  Photographs can show you the rooms, but you can not experience the story unless you are there to smell, taste or feel each space.

Visitors walk from the normal into the magical, which is one reason a visit is a must. "It's Talliston's outward normality that is its magic, it is truly somewhere extraordinary within the ordinary"

Talliston has been featured on TV and insprired books and is used for magical events in the house or garden.  Don't want the magic to end? Why not stay at Talliston with B&B dates available throughout the year.

Talliston is a private house but is part of the Historic Houses group. So if you are inspired to see this magical, inspired and fantastical home, please contact them to arrange a tour or to book tickets for an upcoming event. Tel: 01371 876 308

*** Please note that as of August Talliston House is opening to restricted groups for the moment to be fully covid-compliant, so booking in advance is advisable to see this amazing house and home***
