Farewell To The Bunt

‘Farewell to the Bunt’ – 60th Anniversary Exhibition

-

This September marks 60 years since the last goods train rolled along the Buntingford Branch. To commemorate the anniversary, the Buntingford Railway & Local History Society is hosting a special two-day exhibition – and you’re invited.

Explore the story of a line that once connected communities across East Hertfordshire. From original station signs and fragile timetables to rare photographs, artefacts, and a detailed N gauge model railway, this is a unique chance to experience the railway as it was – and understand what it meant to those who lived along the route.

Whether you remember the Bunt or are simply curious about a lost piece of local history, the exhibition offers something for everyone:

– Original objects from the line, including signage, lamps and tools

– Historic photos and documents from the Society’s archive

– A working section of the Society’s N gauge model railway

– The chance to meet others with memories, stories, and local connections

No booking needed. No entry fee. Just turn up – and step into the world of the Bunt, 60 years after it closed.

Don’t miss this rare look at a railway that shaped our communities, our countryside, and our past.
