Welcome to the twelfth newsletter for the Bishop's Stortford Neighbourhood Plan for Silverleys and Meads Wards.
***Neighbourhood Plan for Silverleys and Meads now submitted***
The Examination Copy of the Neighbourhood Plan for Silverleys and Meads has now been submitted to East Herts Council who will be arranging for the plan to go to independent examination over the coming weeks. The Plan and its supporting documentation are available to download via our website at www.stortfordplan.org or you can view a reference copy at the Bishop's Stortford Town Council office in Windhill. The Plan totals approximately 450 pages in total so I am sure you can appreciate the amount of work that has gone into it! We would like to thank our dedicated team of volunteers, which has included representatives of the key residents associations in the two wards as well as unaffiliated volunteers, representatives of the Civic Federation, the local Chamber of Commerce and town councillors. If the Plan passes examination, a referendum will be held towards the end of the year and if it achieves a simple majority it will form part of the Local Development Plan and be used to help decide planning applications.
***Second Neighbourhood Plan for Bishop's Stortford - South, All Saints, Central and Part of Thorley Parish***
Following completion of the Neighbourhood Plan for Silverleys and Meads, the Council has decided to create a second Plan for the rest of the town and for that part of Thorley between Whittington Way and the A120 bypass.
***Volunteers Wanted***
We are now looking for volunteers to help with the second plan as follows:
Firstly, we need a small but dedicated team of individuals who can represent local views, are keen and can commit time (some of which may be during working hours) during the next 18 months or so. Volunteers should be prepared to attend Team meetings approximately every three weeks during a weekday evening, with additional work and other meetings in between.
Secondly, we need a wider group of people who are willing to help in key subject areas and participate on one of the interest teams. This could be according to subject or to represent the interests of specific groups such as young people, parents and toddlers or those with disabilities. Again, if you would like to learn more, there is information for potential volunteers together with a simple application form available at www.stortfordplan.org . Please do not hesitate to contact the Town Council, however, if you have any questions. We will have a stand on Neighbourhood Planning at Carnival on the afternoon of 21st June so why not come and visit us to find out more?
