Bishop’s Stortford Town Council organises a number of high profile annual events.  

Carnival Parade and Fun Day

The Carnival Parade and Fun Day take place in June each year. 

The Carnival Parade departs from South Mill Arts (CM23 3JG) at 11.30am, processes through South Street, Potter Street, Market Square, North Street and Northgate End, finishing on Link Road at approximately 12.20pm.  

The Carnival Fun Day on Sworders Field (CM23 2EL) is from 12pm – 5pm; visit over 100 stalls at the Fun Day including a bar as well as delicious food from around the world.  Be sure to visit The Carnival Cruise, a special array of decorated working and pleasure boats, moored along the river between the Register Office (CM23 2DL) and Station Road.

Remembrance

The Town Council organises the Annual Remembrance Sunday Service of Remembrance on behalf of the Royal British Legion. The main parade takes place on Remembrance Sunday, starting at 10.30am at The Causeway.  A smaller service is organised by the Royal British Legion on Armistice Day the 11th of November.

Christmas Fayre

The annual Christmas Fayre takes place on the first Saturday in December from 9.30am until 4.30pm, in North Street, Market Square, Potter Street, and South Street, all of which are pedestrianised.

Over 100 stalls complement the regular traders from our Thursday and Saturday Market as well as the monthly Farmer’s and Craft Market. There is always an exciting array of unique handmade gifts stalls, selling jewellery, candles, health and beauty products, and much more. Visitors are tempted by delicious locally made jams, chutney, cakes, and speciality Christmas stalls offering festive items and gifts, food, and drinks. Hungry shoppers keep the cold at bay with many warming delights from the various hot food stalls and bars.
