Welcome to the sixteenth newsletter from the Bishop's Stortford Neighbourhood Plan Team.

***Announcing the referendum for the Neighbourhood Plan for Silverleys and Meads Wards***

Bishop's Stortford Town Council is delighted to announce that the Neighbourhood Plan for Bishop's Stortford Silverleys and Meads will be going to referendum on 19th March 2015. This is the first neighbourhood plan going to referendum in the whole of East Herts and is the first of two plans for Bishop's Stortford.  People living in the two wards will be entitled to vote and if agreed, the plan will be used to help decide future planning applications in the area. The plan has been created by Bishop's Stortford people for Stortford people and represents a means by which local people can have their say.

The plan aims to...

IMPROVE the quality of new HOMES

PROTECT the town's OPEN SPACES

REDUCE traffic CONGESTION

ENCOURAGE new SCHOOLS

HELP fund GP PRACTICES

INCREASE opportunities for SPORT

SUPPORT local RETAIL & BUSINESS

The plan is supported by:
  • Parsonage Residents' Association
  • Chantry Community Association
  • Hockerill Residents Association
  • BS Chamber of Commerce
  • BS Civic Federation
  • Town Councillors for Silverleys and Meads
     
The plan is not supported by:
  • Bishop's Stortford North Consortium of Developers
     

So, if you live in Silverleys or Meads, please remember to vote on 19th March 2015.

 

***The Neighbourhood Plan for All Saints, Central, South and part of Thorley Parish***

The second Neighbourhood Plan for the town is now underway and the team is currently formulating its objectives in a number of areas. As part of this process, we are holding a number of Focus Group meetings at the Council Chamber in Windhill as follows and you are invited to come along and participate:

Bishop’s Stortford South, East of Manor Links and Housing & Design: Thursday 19th February at 7pm

Business & Retail: Thursday 26th February at 4pm

Health: Tuesday 3rd March at 7.30pm

Each meeting will last for approximately two hours.
